This workshop will be tailored for established Social Sciences and Humanities academia and will aim to further develop the learner’s understanding and application of the skills required for successful academic writing with the aim of publication in peer reviewed journals. The workshop will provide a condensed overview of best practices for academic writing in this subject area including bibliographical searching and the various component parts of an article. This session will also briefly cover selecting the right journal, going through the submission process.
This course is ideal for:
- Social science and humanities academic researchers, currently writing a research paper
- Established researchers who wish to better understand research design
- PhD students who aim to begin publishing scholarly papers in the immediate future in the social sciences and humanities
Dr. Laura Sudulich
Senior Lecturer in Politics

Dr Sudulich is Senior Lecturer in Politics at the School of Politics and International Relations of the University of Kent. She is also affiliated to the Centre d’étude de la vie politique (Cevipol) Université Libre de Bruxelles. During the academic year of 2012-2013 she was a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute and she holds a PhD in Political Science from Trinity College Dublin.
From October 2009 to September 2012 she worked at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) as a lecturer and post-doctoral fellow, where she contributed to the Support and Opposition to Migration (SOM) project, funded by the European Commission’s 7th Framework Program. She has taught many courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Her research interests include public opinion, electoral campaign, political communication and the intersection between new technologies and political behaviour. Her work has been published in the British Journal of Political Science and Public Opinion Quarterly and Party Politics among others. Laura is an editor for the European Consortium m for Political Research Press and an associate editor of the Journal of Elections Public Opinion and Parties. She is an expert in survey design and quantitative methodologies.
