The role

Based within our publishing division but supporting the whole company, this diverse role combines Arabic language copyediting, content creation, and English-Arabic translation tasks. 

This role can be based out of our headquarters in Dubai, in either of our offices in Cairo or Riyadh, or be fully remotefrom any other country.

This position reports to the Head of Publishing, but will work across all the divisions, and some of your responsibilities will include:

• Copyediting: proofreading academic articles for Arabic language journals, and ensuring they conform with international academic standards. 
• Translation: providing expert translation services for the company, including translating English language learning materials into Arabic, supporting the Marketing team, and overseeing the creation of an Arabic language website for the Forum for Open Research in MENA, and other initiatives. 
• Content creation: helping to generate social media content and email campaigns and create blog content in Arabic for the publishing division, the Forum for Open Research in MENA, and others. 
• Journal Editor: forging good relationships with Arabic journal editors and institutions, becoming the first port of call for all their queries and concerns, and taking ownership of selected journals projects.
• Editorial service: support the development and delivery of an Arabic language academic editing and researcher-support service. 

You are

An enthusiastic, innovative, and proactive native Arabic speaker with an academic background, who is eager to learn and advance in the publishing and education sectors. You are comfortable working autonomously and as part of a team, have no trouble staying organised and juggling multiple tasks. You pay attention to detail and have an unerring eye for errors, and can also think creatively and come up with new ideas. 

Minimum job qualifications

• • Native Arabic speaker
• • English speaker (advanced to native)
• • MA or higher
• • Degree 2:1 or higher 
• • Expert English and Arabic writing skills
• • Expert English and Arabic communication skills

Desired extras

• • Experience of academic conferences (as speaker, attendee, and/or organiser)
• • Experience of working with, or publishing in, academic journals
• • Experience of academic writing styles and vernacular (preferably across multiple disciplines)
• • Experience of research methodologies, able to put them into practice in commercial scenarios
• • Social media/marketing/communications experience
