ABOUT
Marking the completion of a rigorous professional development program for Teaching Excellence in Medical Education, this course acted as the final workshop for the year, allowing for a recap of key principals with a focus on how these principals can be applied in practical settings. During the workshop, participants presented their key learnings as ‘change agents’ and receive specific feedback from the course leader. It will also allow for final questions and group discussions.

After several years as Head, Division of Histology, she accepted a post in Medical Education at the United Arab Emirates University where she was involved in the first 4 years of the undergraduate medical program. Currently, she is a professor and Academic Lead (PBL) at Bond University. In the discipline of medical education, her interests include learning in the early years of the medical programme and she has published extensively in the areas of curriculum reform, generic skills development, problem-based learning, faculty development and professionalism. Her research has largely revolved around student experiences in different parts of their trainingProfessor McLean possesses an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences, a Masters and PhD in plant and seed toxicology and mycology, and a Masters in Education. Her interest in medical education began in the late 1990s when she was invited to be part of the Curriculum Development Task Force responsible for implementing a problem-based learning curriculum (University of Natal, which later became the University of KwaZulu-Natal) in South Africa.
