4. Is Female Empowerment the Answer to Fishermen Poverty?
In Indonesia, poverty among fishermen is due to low wages, traditional equipment, low education levels and lack of government support. One way to alleviate poverty is through female empowerment by developing cooperatives for female fishermen. This will aid in increasing income for female fishermen and provide further support for fishermen’s families.
This study describes how fishermen cooperatives can be developed and how they help with poverty.
