Knowledge E Foundation Supports the Community Development Activities of CréACtions

CréACtions is a community centre and a socio-educational structure, which offers, holds, organises, and funds several educational, social, and cultural activities for youth, women, and all members of the community. It is located in Schaerbeek, Brussels and has opened its doors to 150 people who are able to visit the centre and learn, cook, and exchange experiences through the activities it hosts.

People from different nationalities and backgrounds come to CréACtions to join French classes, cooking classes, or after school homework groups. CréACtions also supports school creation in other countries and organises school holiday activities for low-income families within Brussels.

Activities and classes held at CréACtions always aim to inspire confidence, dialogue, freedom of expression, development, commitment, creativity, and mutual respect. Last year, the Knowledge E Foundation made a donation to support the inclusive development activities of CréACtions. The contributions from the Knowledge E Foundation will allow the organisation to:

➤ Pay defrayals to ten secondary school aid volunteers

At CréACtions, young college students donate their time to tutor and help other school students with their studies. These modest defrayals are CréACtions’ way of supporting them and rewarding their efforts.

➤ Enable 20 young people to attend a rendition of Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’

Theatre is an artform and a form of expression. Other than being a cultural experience, it can be truly thought-provoking. ‘Thé Philo’ is a community activity where young people hold discussions, reflect on the play they have seen, and express their thoughts and ideas. This activity is open to all and facilitates a healthy cross-cultural exchange.

➤ Open an additional alpha-Fle training group for 12 women

Alpha-Fle training is one of the less funded activities of CréACtions though it is equally important. Women who have gone through limited or no schooling in Brussels are invited to participate in these trainings which “reduces social inequalities and allows for a better understanding of the world they live in”.

➤ Prepare and distribute meals to 100 refugees

As part of their “Agir Ensemble” action, CréACtion volunteers prepared and distributed meals to refugees at “La Porte d’Ulysse”. This inspires a sense of volunteerism among young people and allows them to actively take part in creating a supportive community. Other initiatives under the “Agir Ensemble” initiative include visits to the elderly, donating blood, and organising workshops.

In addition to the above, the contribution from the Knowledge E Foundation will also allow CréACtions to cover computer maintenance expenses and to continue working on developing the CréACtions website.

The Knowledge E Foundation actively seeks to foster collaborations with organisations like CréACtions to amplify community development efforts. By strategically enhancing access to knowledge resources, promoting inclusive education initiatives that reach individuals from all walks of life, actively facilitating community engagement and participation, and advocating for the principles of social inclusion, CréACtions’ activities and initiatives can create a lasting and positive impact on communities, paving the way for a brighter and more prosperous future.
