From becoming a signatory of the SDG Publishers Compact to partnering with other philanthropic organisations to make the world more equitable and sustainable, Knowledge E has been intensifying its efforts and engaging in more collaborations to create a better future for all by contributing to the SDGs.
Since its establishment, Knowledge E has been dedicated to addressing educational disparities, fostering equal opportunities, and ensuring that marginalised or disadvantaged communities have access to quality education and related resources.
We’ve recently published our very first SDG Progress Report to document our journey as a sustainability-minded company and an equal education advocate. By publishing our first SDG Progress Report, we hope to provide tangible and transparent evidence of all our actions and efforts towards sustainable development – whether within the company itself, or through our collaborative projects with other entities and organisations.
The report will also be a way for us to track our yearly progress, identify areas for improvement, and celebrate the small victories we achieve along the way. We hope that our actions ignite a wave of interest across different companies in the region and encourage many to start being part of this global action.
Below are the SDGs we have focused on in 2022:
The report also discusses The KnE Foundation’s Forum for Open Research in MENA (F.O.R.M.), a non-profit membership organisation advocating for and supporting the advancement of Open Science in the Arab world. We firmly believe in the ability of Open Science to foster equitable education for all and are proud to be launching our second F.O.R.M. conference this year in partnership with Khalifa University and supported by UNESCO.
By accessing our 2022 SDG Progress Report, you’ll be able to read more about how our mission and our vision align with the SDGs, how many of our initiatives, including F.O.R.M., contribute to the attainment of the SDGs, how we honour our commitment to support researchers in emerging economies, how we promote Open Access, how we are gradually moving towards a sustainable carbon-neutral office, how we operate as a Diamond Open Access publisher, how we offer better accessibility to scientific research through Zendy, and much more.
The Arab region is increasingly becoming involved in addressing the global challenges outlined in the SDGs, whether through active participation in international forums like COP27 and COP28, its growing investment in research, and its progressive embracing of the Open Access movement. We hope to be a substantial driving force in bringing about these exciting changes to the region and to be able to support the efforts of different entities and individuals working towards achieving the SDGs.
