The Knowledge E Foundation has teamed up with Dubai Cares, a UAE-based global philanthropic organisation, to increase access to quality primary education and adult literacy programmes in the far Western region of Nepal.
In 2017, as part of Dubai Cares’ ‘Adopt a School’ initiative, the Knowledge E Foundation pledged to support the construction of at least one school per year until 2020. Despite Covid-19 restrictions, the foundation fulfilled its promise at the end of the year, having helped build four schools in Malawi, Senegal, and Cambodia.
One of the key goals of the Nepal project is to improve the infrastructure of primary schools and enhance students’ learning experience. The Knowledge E Foundation will adopt one of the three-classroom primary schools, which will be fitted with furniture and gender-specific latrines. Each school will benefit approximately 90 students, as well as teachers, who will receive training.
The project will also serve women from indigenous rural communities by providing them with access to adult education and literacy classes. Approximately 40 women from each school are set to benefit from the Adult Literacy Programme (ALP), which is aimed at increasing the access to education for girls and women and improving literacy rates among adults.
The new primary schools and the ALP will indirectly help around 600 teachers, officials, volunteers, and adults by providing them with the opportunity to contribute to the construction of the schools and participate in capacity-building programmes.

Kamran R. Kardan, the founder of the Knowledge E Foundation, said: “We strongly believe that education has the ability to empower communities, transform lives, and foster peace and development, which is why we are delighted to have joined forces with Dubai Cares once again for its ‘Adopt a School’ initiative. We’re confident that this project will empower the lives of students, teachers, and adult learners in Nepal.”
He added: “High-quality education infrastructure is crucial for improving students’ learning outcomes, ensuring their growth and development, and avoiding poor attendance rates. With the Nepal project, we’re aiming to create a safe, well-equipped environment that will set students up for success by making learning more comfortable. We are also hopeful that the adult literacy and life skills classes will offer women from indigenous rural communities the chance to reach their full potential and develop valuable skills.”
Team members from the Knowledge E Foundation are eagerly awaiting to visit the school site and participate in the physical construction of the school with the local community later this year. The visit will be an opportunity for the team to get in touch with the community that the Knowledge E Foundation is helping and foster a sense of cross-cultural connection.
Since its inception, the Knowledge E Foundation has worked towards intensifying its activities to contribute to diverse causes and offer aid whenever possible. To date, the foundation’s initiatives have left a lasting positive impact on many countries around the world, including in Belgium, Cambodia, Egypt, Malawi, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Senegal, and the UAE.
