DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, 31th August, 2016 — Knowledge E has joined the Crossref Similarity Check initiative by which all submitted journal articles and conference papers are subjected to comparison with previously published articles in thousands of publications from all over the world. Similarity Check is an initiative of Crossref using iThenticate technology to detect the proportion of a research paper that contains similar phrases to previously published material. Similar passages can be an indicator of plagiarism and editors are encouraged to investigate articles with a high proportion of similarity.
Philip J. Purnell, Director of Research & Publishing Services at Knowledge E says “We are proud to be working with Crossref on this initiative that will emphasise our commitment to quality and instil confidence in our readers. At the same time, authors whose manuscripts appear on KnE Publishing will have some measure of protection against their articles being plagiarised”
Similarity Check consists of two parts, a content repository and the iThenticate software. The content repository is a large database of professional and scholarly work into which Knowledge E and many other scholarly publishers have deposited their published content. The iThenticate software compares submitted manuscripts against content in the repository and provides reports that help editors verify originality.
