OpenAthens and Knowledge E announce strategic partnership to extend seamless access to research literature in the Middle East.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 12th September, 2016 Knowledge E

OpenAthens and Knowledge E today announce the signing of a new strategic partnership that will bring single sign-on (SSO) access to essential academic and professional information resources to a wider range of organisations throughout the Middle East.

OpenAthens provides secure SAML-based access for both service providers (including major academic and professional publishers across the world) and identity providers such as healthcare systems, research organisations and universities, connecting end-users with the information they need. This new partnership will allow more organisations to join peers such as the Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman in providing industry-standard single sign-on access to thousands of medical practitioners, researchers and students across the region.

Jon Bentley, Commercial Director for OpenAthens, commented, “organisations throughout the Middle East are among the world’s leading users of electronic information. We’re delighted to be working with Knowledge E to bring SSO to even more customers throughout the region, streamlining access to the valuable knowledge that professionals and academics refer to on a daily basis.”

“Knowledge E is very excited to deepen its already successful collaboration with OpenAthens as a strategic partner for the Middle East,” said Martin Jagerhorn, Chief Innovation Officer at Knowledge E. “The KnE Digital Library solution currently provides the premiere way for academic, hospital and corporate libraries in the Middle East to provide seamless access to their journal subscriptions. Libraries without a remote authentication solution, however, cannot utilize the full power that Knowledge E can bring to their users. By offering Open Athens Single Sign On authentication along with the KnE Digital Library, Knowledge E can provide a seamless integrated solution to clients struggling with their existing authentication mechanism or lacking one entirely.”
