In order to enhance literacy rates and provide better education in rural regions of Nepal, the Knowledge E Foundation has broadened its collaboration with UWS by endorsing the Teaching Fellowship Programme. The Teaching Fellowship Program is a two-year graduate placement program aimed at Nepali scholars who are seeking experience in teaching and community action.
Teaching Fellows are deployed to a UWS community school for two years to enhance the quality of education provided. The Fellows receive training to tackle education disparities and foster meaningful relationships between students, teachers, parents and community teachers to enhance the learning environment and life skills of the children enrolled.
The Knowledge E Foundation is dedicated to constructing a world enriched with knowledge by providing quality education to children worldwide, equipping them with the essential tools to build a brighter future.
The programme offers a distinctive chance for Nepali graduates to acquire experience in teaching, community action, and international development. The fellows receive training to tackle educational disparities and foster meaningful relationships between students, teachers, parents, and community leaders to enhance the learning environment and life skills of rural children.
Tirsana, a Teaching Fellow at UWS Jaisithok School, is having a remarkable influence on her students’ lives. She possesses a genuine passion for teaching and strives to provide her students with the best educational opportunities available. Her efforts have resulted in the establishment of a positive learning atmosphere for her pupils.
With Knowledge E’s support, one fellow has been placed in a UWS community school. The UWS Fellowship programme has enrolled a total of 42 individuals to date. These fellows undergo a rigorous selection process and extensive training to equip them with the necessary skills to enhance the educational standards of UWS Nepal schools.
The Fellows have a greater proficiency in fundamental subjects like Mathematics and English, contributing to an improved quality of education. Additionally, they are nurturing leaders who are committed to tackling educational inequality and working towards eliminating socioeconomic obstacles faced by remote communities.
Founder and CEO of Knowledge E, Kamran R. Kardan, commented, “We are confident in the UWS Fellowship Programme’s ability to address the educational needs of children in rural areas across Nepal and the UWS’s efforts to enrich children’s academic experiences. We are proud to be supporting this nurturing programme and look forward to support more initiatives in the years to come.”
The Knowledge E Foundation and United World Schools remain committed to building a more knowledgeable world by providing education to children in remote and marginalised areas. With the support of the community, they hope to reach more children and provide them with the tools they need to succeed. The Teaching Fellowship Programme is just one of the many initiatives that they are undertaking to achieve this goal.
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, UWS Fellows played a crucial role in ensuring that education continued for children residing in isolated areas. When schools were forced to close, fellows assumed significant responsibilities in creating and implementing radio-based learning programmes, enabling students to continue their studies from their homes. These endeavours were instrumental in preventing students from falling behind in their studies and aiding them in making progress.
